The park is 128 sq km in size and contains evergreen forest, moist upper deciduous forest and pine forest. The natural springs, flowers, and wooded hillsides generally contract to the surrounding of Myinchan plains.
There is abundance in wildlife at the park including Wild Boar, Barking Deer, Feline species, Monkey and other small mammals. About 150 Dusky Leaf Monkeys live in the creator together with Rhesus Macaque. It is easily visible from the log cabin. These primates are well protected and listed as completely protected wild animals in Myanmar. Various species of butterfly (especially Common Birdwing Troides helena), reptile and amphibian are exciting for nature lovers in this Myanmar (Burma) ecotourism, birding, birds watching and trekking tours site.
Mt. Popa is home for 177 bird species.
